Traveling is one of the most enjoyable experiences you can have, but unfortunately, it’s also quite expensive at times. It’s easy to spend thousands of dollars on a vacation or trip, but not everyone has that kind of money available. Luckily, there are ways to save money while traveling so you can still enjoy your destination without having to break the bank.

Cutting your daily expenses and downgrading to a simpler way of living will help you to save money for your trip around the world without having to find extra sources of income. I know these tips work because I used them before  and i still use them to keep my living expenses low. These tips will help you save money along every step of your travelling life. If you look for hacks to cut your costs in your everyday life, you can have more money to travel and not have to worry as much about your personal finances.

These travel tips below can help you save money and cut your expenses

1.   Set up a separate bank account

Financial experts have long recommended this. Set up a separate bank account and have money automatically deposited into that account each pay cycle. No matter how much you put away there, putting that money in a separate bank account means it’s away from your spending and you won’t overspend. There are a lot of saving platforms online which can help you to save your funds such as, piggy bank, piggyvest Think of this like a piggy bank. Don’t raid it. It’s your travel fund.

2.   Learn to cook

We all need to eat, but restaurants are getting a bit  expensive these days. These days, whenever I go out to eat I am always left in shock. In order to keep your food bill low, cook more often.

I was lucky enough to learn how to cook at a very young age, but in my recent adult years, I have found lot of love for takeaway and eating out due to maybe laziness and also tight schedules. I realized recently that it is becoming a routine. I am doing my best to cut it out in order to cook more for myself. I also eat leftovers from dinner for breakfast. What I do is I just store the left over in the refrigerator and warm the leftover the next day- thus saving more money which have helped me a lot and it is still helping me up-to-date. But I know there are some of us who do not know how to cook. All hope is not lost. There are cooking websites on Google you can also use YouTube to see cooking tutorials there.

3.   Stop drinking alcohol

Alcohol is getting expensive these days. Cutting down the amount of alcohol you drink is going to have a great impact on your budget. Although it might not apply to everyone, those of you who are less busy might go out with your friends on the weekend. Drink before you go out to the bar or simply don’t drink at all. Cutting down the amount of alcohol you consume is an easy way to save money.

Cutting down the amount you drink is going to have a big impact on your savings account, and get you closer to affording your holiday. Your account balance will smile.

4.   SKIP THE CINEMA

I don’t know about you, but I find going to the cinema to be ridiculously expensive.

It can cost a lot for a ticket, and that much again for the popcorn and drinks (coke). Cut out going to the cinema and just watch them at home with a pack of popcorn for date night. You can also send them to your laptops which can minimize your data expenses too. We also have Netflix which can be assessed with your phones and laptop. All you have to do is to create an account and enjoy. You will save yourself so much money in the long run!

I know these tips work because I use most of them in my everyday life. So keep this list in mind so you always remember what to cut so you can save for travel!
