Western Washington University offers a number of merit-based
scholarships worth up to $10,000 per year to new and continuing overseas
students. Scholarship availability and amounts are subject to change.
The First-Year IAA is a four-year merit scholarship offered
to a select group of students who have excelled academically. The application
for admission, which includes an essay, secondary school transcripts,
cumulative GPA, evidence of English proficiency, and submission before the
priority deadline, is used to determine eligibility; no extra scholarship
applications are required.
If selected, recipients are notified of their scholarship by
email after the point of admission. IAA recipients will receive an annual
reduction in non-resident tuition in the form of partial tuition waivers for up
to four years.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required and students must maintain
a GPA of 3.0 for annual renewal of award.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Western’s International Achievement Award (IAA) is available only to students
who apply for admission using Western’s unique application for admission here.
If you have any questions regarding your application or eligibility you are
encouraged to contact International Admissions directly. Students who are
admitted conditionally pending successful completion of the Intensive English
Program (IEP) may be eligible after successfully completing IEP and
matriculating in credit-bearing classes at Western. Scholarships cannot be
applied to study abroad programs, off-campus, or other non-state supported
programs.
