Davies Scholarships at Fitzwilliam College UK
Through the
E D Davies Scholarships, The Fitzwilliam College is providing an award of
£1,460 to international students who wish to attend the college.
The
scholarship cannot be used to cover the financial commitment necessary for
enrollment in the course, but it may be used as supplemental money for living
expenses, conference travel, and other unanticipated research costs.
The
Non-Collegiate Individuals Board was established in 1869 with the goal of
giving intellectually gifted students from all backgrounds the opportunity to
attend the university. This is where the institution got its start. In
south-west Cambridge, Fitzwilliam Hall, subsequently known as Fitzwilliam
House, served as the institution's first home. It is located directly across
from the Fitzwilliam Museum. Fitzwilliam moved to its current location in the
city's north and became a college in 1966. Around the time that most institutions
started allowing women to enroll, the first female undergraduates were enrolled
in 1978.
Around 475
undergraduates, 500 graduate students, and 90 fellows currently reside at
Fitzwilliam. As of 2018–19, it is Cambridge's seventh-largest college in terms of
total enrollment. Six Nobel Laureates, a sizable number of eminent academics,
public servants, businesspeople, clergy, and athletes are among Fitzwilliam
College's notable alumni. Three heads of state or government, one current UK
Supreme Court Justice, and numerous political figures, such as the current and
former Commissioners of the Metropolitan Police and the leader of the Liberal
Democrats, have also graduated from the college.
